Steichen at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
At the time this was the largest exhition ever of it kind. Its scale and deliberately global, humanistisk attempt to show a single ‘Human condition’ across such spheres of life as family, work, education, love and mariage made it highly influential - but also controversial.
The catalogue is without its cover and the first page is torn - but all the content is preserved.
