Description:
We are selling Njord due to change to a new boat. The boat has given us a lot of sailing pleasure and great experiences. In particular, a trip to Northern Norway in 2024 can be highlighted. Otherwise, we have mostly used the boat for trips in western Norway.
All in all, the boat appears solid with a lot of remaining utility value. Several upgrades have been made over the past year in preparation for a long trip to Northern Norway. If the boat gets some love, it will provide sailing pleasure for many years to come. It's a very seaworthy and solid boat that can be compared with other reputable brands such as Najad, Hallberg-Rassy etc. The center cockpit and windshield, combined with the solid hull shape make it comfortable and safe. However, it must be emphasized that this is an almost 40-year-old boat, so it's not a fancy boat.
Upgrades:
Electrical system: A complete refurbishment of the boat's electrical system was carried out in 2024, focusing on key parts of the system. The consumer battery was switched to lithium. All chargers and other central components have been replaced with new Victron components with app control. Battery fuses and distribution from the battery, as well as all battery cables were replaced. Significant cleanup was also done in the rest of the electrical network.
Navigation: In 2024, a complete renovation of the navigation system was carried out. Components in the system were purchased second-hand from a well-known long-distance sailor and are original from around 2010.
Improvement needs:
There has previously been a teak deck on the boat. This has been removed and new gelcoat has been laid down by the previous owner. The groundwork here has been too poor and the gelcoat is now cracking. The deck must therefore be sanded down, treated and a coating or new gelcoat applied. this work should be done this year. There are no leaks into the boat as a result of this as far as we know. Positive: The structure of the deck does not seem to be affected yet. We believe the deck is fully molded in fiberglass, without core material that can rot. The deck still appears stable and does not give way anywhere.
Hull penetrations should be considered for replacement
Septic tank has been disconnected by previous owner
Minor cosmetic damage to fittings.
Rig service (I do not know of any damage, but do not know when this was last carried out beyond normal control by me)
