Original woodblock print/Originalt japansk træsnit, Takao Sano, motiv: Paper Dolls, b: 16 cm h: 14 cm, Original japanese woodblock print (Ukiyo-e). Beautiful contemporary design by Takao Sano (*1941) showing paper dolls in a nest of bamboo leaves. Each year on Girl’s Day (3rd of March) girls are floating these paper dolls down the river and into the sea. The artists carved the blocks themselves, which the famous Watanabe publisher of Tokyo then printed on hand-made Torinoko paper. Great for display, either singly or in groups (see my other entries). Print in very good condition, no issues to report. 16 cm x 14 cm + margins as shown.
