Here’s a beautifully preserved example of the highly sought-after Tokai Springy Sound Stratocaster, built in 1981 at the peak of Japanese vintage reissue quality. These guitars have developed a legendary reputation for their craftsmanship and tone—used by players like John Mayer and other Strat aficionados.
This particular example is all original except for the pickups, which have been professionally upgraded to a set of hand-wound LeoSound single-coils (around €150). These pickups provide that classic Strat sparkle, with enhanced clarity, warmth, and dynamic response. The original pickups are included in the sale for added value and flexibility.
The neck is a joy to play: a slim C-profile maple neck with a 1.66" (42mm) nut width and a 9.5" fretboard radius—modern-feeling but still true to vintage character. Frets are in excellent condition and the guitar feels resonant and alive in hand.
