En indisk forsker undersøger det danske folk.
In 1989, the Indian anthropologist, Professor G. Prakash Reddy, M.A., Ph.D. made a study of Hvilsager, a small village in Denmark. The project caused much media attention; a film about Indian scholar and the Danish villagers was produced; and a Danish version of Professor Reddy's own incisive and humorous report on his encounter with the natives had to go into a second printing a few weeks after its publication.
A professor of anthropology from Andhra Pradesh, with prior fieldwork in the Andamans, Nicobar Island and among Indian tribal and peasant villages, Reddy presents himself as the Third World Anthropologist who wants to show that the Rest can study the West. In 1989, following a short visit to Denmark, Reddy settles in for four months of participant observation in the east Jutland village of Hvilsager. Danes are like that! is the result. Reddy's monograph on Hvilsager appeared in Danish in 1991 and is now translated into English.
