The PPA990 ist NOT a phono stage, it's a pre-preamplifier !
It can only be used to connect low-output mc-cartridges to phono stages which are only suited for mm-carts because the PPA990 does not have a RIAA circuit.
It was designed by Thorens to be used in combination with their EMT-made cartridges - the TMC 63 / TMC 70 and the MCH-1 / MCH-2."
