Bought in Germany as it wasn't available in Denmark. Last offers I saw in Denmark before the enclosure got sold out had been at around 12,500 kr. Warranty until October 2026. Included are:
- original OWC Thunderbolt 3 cable and power cable;
- two front panel lock keys (only one visible at the photo as the ther one was in the front panel);
- allen key for removing side panels (one of the screws has a slightly irregular hexagon head but it does not have negative influence on anything);
- HDD and SSD mounting screws;
- original purchase receipt.
This Thunderbay 8 Flex comes with two bonuses: a FireWire PCIe card and a Noctua 120mm fan. Thanks to the latter, the system is quieter than with stock fan. With these additions, its retail value in Denmark amounts to over 13,000 kr.
The enclosure is in a very good condition. I used for backup with 4 HDDs and 4 SSDs, as well as a connection hub for older FireWire devices (hence the FireWire card installed). All my backups are on NAS now and all old devices are running via FW/TB adapter, so there is no need to keep this otherwise great device. The aggregated speed and capacity of RAIDed modern hard and solid state drives works great in Thunderbay 8 Flex in combination with any Mac computer. It's also secure and intuitive.
The enclosure comes with an unused 3-year SoftRAID premium license (the sticker with the key is on the bottom of the enclosure).
