Paul Bayne: "An Entire Commentary Upon the Whole Epistle of St. Paul to the Ephesians : Wherein the Text is Learnedly and Fruitfully Opened with a Logical Analysis, Spiritual and Holy Observations, Confutation of Arminianism and Popery, and Sound Edification for the Diligent Reader". (Ja, det var den fulde titel!) Bayne er en af de elskede og højt skattede Puritanere på linje med andre store Puritanere som John Bunyan og Matthew Henry. Puritanerne er altid rige og har uendeligt meget at give. Bayne var højt skattet af Spurgeon som roste ham højt. I 1800 tallet fik selveste Spurgeon genoptrykt en række Puritanske Bibel kommentarer. Denne er det fysiske eksemplar som Spurgeon beordrede forlaget at genoptrykke. Indtil da havde man kun kunne få den i en 1600 tals udgave. Anbefales. God solid indbinding fra 1861. Del af Nichol's Series of Commentaries, i værksat af Spurgeon. Koster normalt tre gange så meget. Meget sjælden og yderst vanskelig at finde. Fra røgfrit hjem.

Når Spurgeon skal anbefale værket, citerer han Puritaneren Richard Sibbes (1577–1635).
Spurgeon skriver: "Sibbes says of this Work: "The greatest shall find matter to exercise themselves in; the meaner, matter of sweet comfort and holy instruction; and all confess that he hath brought some light to this Scripture.""

Om Bayne (1573–1617):
Paul Baynes was a Puritan and an important influence on the following generation of English Calvinists, through William Ames, a convert of Perkins, and Richard Sibbes, a convert of Baynes himself. This makes Baynes a major link in a chain of "Puritan worthies": to John Cotton, John Preston, Thomas Shepard and Thomas Goodwin. Ames quoted Baynes: "Beware of a strong head and a cold heart", an idea that would be repeated by Cotton Mather, who was grandson to John Cotton.
