Catherine Kullberg Lighting | Norwegian Forest Pendant Light, Large
Cathrine Kullberg's Norwegian Forest lamps draw on the classic Scandinavian tradition of birch strip lighting. Her designs depict delicately cut forest motifs that become more visible when the blonde birch veneer is lit from within. All parts of the lamps are assembled by hand in the designer’s Oslo studio.
The Norwegian Forest entered the classic Scandinavian tradition of using thin wood veneer strips for lighting. The double layered 0,9 mm veneer was custom made for the collection, and the assembly done by hand sewing with leather string. During the 10 years in production, the lamps were sold in art and design oriented shops in more than 20 countries, lighting many homes and public areas with the warm glow of light through wood and cut out forest contours.
In 2020 the lamp was included in permanent collections of Nordenfjeldske Kunstindustrimuseum, as well as The Norwegian National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design.
