Kompressor i 500 format, Foote Control Systems Pico 502, Sjældne Pico 502 købt som mastering par med Cinemag output transformers. De er også super fede til tracking.

Dette er et specielt modded par efter mine ønsker, så meteret viser gain reduction på mellem 1-5dB og altså ikke 2-20 som printet på frontpladen.
Ratio er også tænkt som mastering og derfor 1.1-4.1 ratio.
Den har også et 80Hz HPF, som man kan slå til eller fra via jumpers, men jeg har altid haft det slået til.
Jeg har ledt efter en evt manual på nettet, men har ikke fundet den pt.
Dette er det nærmest jeg er kommet på en beskrivelse af kompressoren og hvordan den virker, hvilket her beskrives af Roger Foote, som har skabt dem:
"The time constants in this compressor are based on the RMS model that David Blackmer developed. Most VCA compressors use this type of detection unless a variable AR is included.
In the end, it depends on what you are after. A super fast acting compressor that can eat transients but have more resultant distortion and a more squeezed/ smaller sound or a compressor which allows more transient to pass with low distortion and a big sound.
I like these RMS/VCA types for tracking duties. But, if you need something faster (with the side effects) you might be better off looking into a FET type design.
A very useful approach is to use serial compression, a fast FET compressor taking the peaks off feeding a VCA (or other) type for tonal density enhancement.
"The Pico 502 and P3S circuits can easily output a clean +26dBu, so with Carnhill you haven't reached the point of transformer saturation where with the Cinemags you are pretty much in the middle of the "saturation zone" at those levels if needed.
There is kind of creamy, silky thing going on with the Cinemags even at moderate levels that I really like.
