Varebeskrivelse
Stand: Brugt - men i god stand
The Barcus-Berry Model 1510 (often referenced interchangeably as the 1510 or 1510A) is an incredibly rare, vintage 1970s solid-state preamplifier and amplifier head manufactured in the USA. Originally designed to amplify acoustic instruments equipped with early piezo crystal transducers, it also serves as a distinct standalone electric guitar head and studio tone shaper.
Because it is a legacy vintage unit, modern consensus focuses heavily on its unique retro character, expansive I/O routing, and its collectibility rather than typical modern metrics.
Key Specifications & Interface
The Model 1510 packs a massive amount of functionality into a highly compact, lightweight chassis that outputs 30 watts RMS:
• Front Panel Controls: Includes a single 1/4” instrument input, Input Sensitivity, Volume, Expander (Treble/Bass), standard Tone (Treble/Bass), Midrange (Level/Frequency controls), and Master Hi-Z and Lo-Z levels.
• Built-in Spring Reverb: Features dedicated Volume and Decay dials specifically for its onboard analog spring tank.
• Extensive Rear Routing: Loaded with a 16-ohm monitor out, Lo-Z XLR out, 1/4” record out, 1/4” Hi-Z out, Accessory Send/Receive loop with independent volume control, Tape Receive input, Echo Send/Receive, and standard Reverb footswitch jacks.
(Note: The Model 1510 shares its exact build and architecture with the larger Barcus-Berry Model 1520, missing only the built-in analog phase shifter found on the 1520.)
Performance & Sonic Character
• Warm Solid-State Tone: According to historical consensus gathered on Harmony Central, users agree that Barcus-Berry solid-state gear from this era delivers a surprisingly warm, sometimes tube-like tone that stands out from the harsh solid-state designs typical of the 1970s.
• Studio Sound Shaper: On The Gear Page, musicians suggest that the 1510 functions beautifully as a vintage studio tool. While it can drive a small speaker cabinet for low-volume practice or acoustic tracking, it excels when used "against type"—acting as an outboard analog overdrive or EQ shaper to warm up direct signals before they hit a DAW.
• Exceptional Longevity: The internal circuitry is notoriously resilient. Forum consensus highlights that these solid-state units frequently survive 20 to 30 years with little to no component failure, though finding clean replacement knobs or original spring tanks can be difficult
Den er jo ikke større og tungere end at det godt kan lade sig gøre at sende den ....men jeg synes ny det vil være klogt at høre den først.
