Bakuman is a manga series by Tsugumi Ohba & Takeshi Obata. The story follows talented artist Moritaka Mashiro and aspiring writer Akito Takagi, two ninth grade boys who wish to become manga artists.
Manga are graphic novels originating from Japan. The term is used in Japan to refer to both comics and cartooning. Outside of Japan, the word is typically used to refer to comics originally published in the country.
VIZ Media is owned by the Japanese publishing conglomerate Hitotsubashi Group, and was founded in 1987. As of 2017 it is largest publisher of graphic novels and comic books in the United States.
