Om kunstneren:
Artist David Roberts, an early 19th-century Scottish painter, is best known for his prodigious series of sketches and paintings of architecture in Spain and of the pyramids, monuments, temples, and mosques of Egypt and the Holy Land. The latter work made him the most renowned Orientalist artist of his time.
In all, artist David Roberts prepared hundreds of watercolors, oils, and pencil drawings that he had lithographed and hand-colored into prints. David Roberts' prints of Egypt and the Holy Land are prized for their color rendering of colossal structures, prepared with a camera lucida, or prism, that projected the image onto his canvas.
