The Story & Condition The 56KS series represents a golden era of Japanese horology, born from the fierce and brilliant internal rivalry between Seiko’s Suwa and Daini factories. Powered by the automatic caliber 5625A beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (Hi-Beat), it was designed to offer absolute precision and compete directly with Swiss chronometers. Aesthetically, this reference perfectly encapsulates Taro Tanaka’s legendary "Grammar of Design," characterized by highly reflective flat surfaces and sharp, faceted angles.
At Nimbus Watches, we believe in honest history. This specific example from April 1969 wears its age with grace. The stainless steel case exhibits normal, authentic patina and light wear, but crucially, it retains its sharp, factory-original edges—a sign that its history hasn't been erased by heavy polishing. The silver sunburst dial is in beautifully preserved condition, complemented by a crystal free of major scratches and the original "KS" signed crown.
Please note that the gold KS medallion on the case back is missing. This is a very common occurrence with vintage King Seikos that have actually been worn and loved over the decades, as the adhesive holding the medallions often degraded over time.
Mechanically, the watch is performing impressively for its age. Tested on our timegrapher, the movement shows a healthy amplitude of 237° and runs at a very respectable -19 seconds per day, making it a reliable and incredibly stylish vintage companion for everyday wear.

Warranty The watch is sold with a 1-month warranty covering mechanical issues. The date should not be adjusted between approx. 21:00 and 03:00, as this may damage the mechanism. As this is a vintage watch, the warranty does not cover water damage. The warranty does not cover damage caused by drops or impacts on hard surfaces.
