The Story & Condition Introduced in the late 1960s, the Seiko Lord Matic (LM) line was positioned just below the prestigious King Seiko and Grand Seiko ranges. It was powered by the exceptional 5600-series movement—a caliber so well-designed that Seiko later adapted it to power their King Seiko and Grand Seiko models. This specific reference, the 5606-7070, features a sleek, front-loading one-piece case (noted by "Open Thru Glass" on the case back), which was designed to improve water resistance.
At Nimbus Watches, we celebrate watches that have lived a real life, and this 1969 Lord Matic wears its 50+ years of history with honest patina. The stainless steel case shows authentic wear, and the crystal has quite a few visible scratches. We have chosen to leave it exactly as we found it, offering it at an accessible price for someone who loves the charm of an unpolished, worn-in vintage piece.
The true selling point of this watch, however, is its mechanical heart. Despite the external wear, the caliber 5606 movement is running phenomenally well. Tested on our timegrapher, it shows a very healthy amplitude of 232° and runs at an impressive +9 seconds per day. It is a fantastic opportunity to own a high-grade, reliable vintage Seiko movement in a carefree, everyday package.

Please note: The caliber 5606 features a day/date quickset mechanism made with a plastic gear that becomes brittle over the decades. You must NEVER adjust the day or date when the watch hands are between 21:00 and 03:00, or this gear will break. As this is a vintage watch, the warranty does not cover water damage or damage caused by drops/impacts on hard surfaces.
