The Story & Condition The 56KS series is a true pillar of Japanese horological history, representing Seiko's relentless pursuit of precision in the late 1960s and early 70s. Powered by the renowned caliber 5625A automatic movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (Hi-Beat), it was engineered to rival the best Swiss chronometers of its day. Encased in Taro Tanaka’s famous "Grammar of Design" architecture, it is a quintessential vintage Seiko.
At Nimbus Watches, we believe in radical transparency. This specific example from January 1970 has lived a very full life and is offered as a "rougher," highly accessible entry into the King Seiko lineage. While the stainless steel case is in decent condition and retains an honest, unpolished patina, the original silver dial shows noticeable degradation and moisture damage around the 6 o'clock mark.
On the case back, the gold "KS" medallion is present; however, because we are on the side of caution and honesty, we suspect it may have been re-applied later in its life or could potentially be an aftermarket replacement.
On the positive side, the crystal is in very good condition, offering a clear view of the dial, and it still retains its original "KS" signed crown. Mounted on a handsome brown leather strap, this is a watch for someone who wants the mechanical pedigree and wrist presence of a King Seiko without the premium price tag of a museum-grade piece.
