The Patagonia Torrentshell 3L (3-Layer) pants and jackets are reliable, durable, and waterproof/breathable shells for wet-weather protection. They can be used for hiking, backpacking, commuting, and everyday casual wear in rainy or windy conditions.
Hiking & Backpacking: The 50-denier fabric is rugged enough to withstand regular trail use and backpacking with a pack.
Daily Commuting/Travel: The simple, stylish design works for both urban environments and adventures.
Wind Protection: They function as a "shield" against heavy wind.
Versatile Layering: As uninsulated shells, they are designed to be worn over base layers, fleece, or down jackets (like the Nano Puff) to provide warmth and protection in colder, wet conditions.
Wet Weather Activities: They are suitable for fishing, cycling, and other wet-weather outdoor pursuits.
Key Features of the Torrentshell 3L
Waterproof & Breathable: They offer high-level water resistance (20,000mm rating) using a PFAS-free durable water repellent (DWR) finish.
Pit Zips (Jacket): Includes underarm zippers to vent heat during high-exertion activities.
Packability: The jacket can be stuffed into its own left-hand pocket.
Side Zips (Pants): The pants feature two-way zippers from cuff to thigh, allowing them to be pulled on over boots.
Adjustability: Both feature adjustable hoods, cuffs, and hemlines to seal out water.
I have only used them 5-6 times and they’re in really good condition. The price is for both the jacket and the pants.
