ESP 1980-1981 Catalog Guitar with numbers matching, custom order hand-selected mahogany body and hand selected maple/rosewood neck. Lowest serial number (00372) I have ever found in 30 years of collecting ESP guitars. As seen in the catalog, this guitar was part of the pre-logo (which began 1983) pre-production period where you could custom order a hand select Stratocaster with a blank headstock. The model was called an ESPART-SE, and you got your choice of a hand selected ash, maple, paduak, chestnut, rosewood, koa or mahogany body. For the necks, you could get a hand selected all maple, maple/rosewood, all rosewood, all mahogany or all paduak neck. This is a numbers matching (09446) body and neck with the proper ESP body cavity route matching the catalog photos. It has the brass ESP output jack and chrome neck plate as seen in the catalog photos. The EMG pickups were upgraded well over a decade ago. There was a Japanese 9v battery from April 2013 that I replaced with a new 9V when taking the photos for this listing. The guitar is super cool from the earliest serialised period of ESP before launching as a mainstream company producing for the masses. It is the only one I have ever been able to get my hands on, as the rest are just partscasters or feature a neck that was ordered on its own from the catalog. This was actually a custom order hand built guitar put together by ESP at their Japanese custom shop. As was common (see my other listing) this guitar got a Floyd update. I'd say it is worthy of an Original Floyd or a Japanese Gotoh locking tremolo, but I'll leave that up to the new owner. This is not a partscaster or a later ESP New York build or ESP Germany build. It is not supposed to have a headstock logo, which was not introduced until the 1984 Catalog. You either had an ESP Custom order with blank headstock at this time or a Navigator guitar with Navigator logo.
