ESP Custom Shop Eclipse Prototype signature guitar built for Doug Scarratt of Saxon! The guitar was used to record on Saxon's "Battering Ram" & "Thunderbolt" albums. It was further used on tour by him around the world, as can be seen in many photos and YouTube videos, including the massive Live In Berlin 2015 full set and across the 2018 North American tour, amongst many other major performances. The "PROTOTYPE" marking is part of the paint job and under the clear coat along with the serial number. Comes with tour case featuring "SAXON" gaffer tape from its last tour. Comes with full provenance and COA
With over 13 million records sold, Saxon are heavy metal royalty! As leaders of the new wave of British heavy metal, they had eight UK Top 40 albums in the 1980s including four UK Top 10 albums and two Top 5 albums. They had numerous singles in the UK Singles Chart and chart success all over Europe and Japan, as well as success in the United States. During the 1980s, Saxon established themselves among Europe's greatest metal acts. They are considered classic metal musicians and have influenced a number of bands such as Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, Exodus, Overkill, Mötley Crüe, Pantera, Helloween, Running Wild, Metal Church, Armored Saint, Dream Theater, Dokken, Skid Row, Sodom, Celtic Frost, Bathory, King Diamond and Death Angel.
This is the only ESP artist prototype guitar to ever be for sale to the general public as far as I am aware of. Doug brought it personally to his local guitar shop in Brighton, England where it was then sold. The guitar comes with full provenance and a COA.
