1986 Charvel Model 5 Custom Rising Sun Graphic. Original Jackson USA humbuckers and tuners. Original Kahler USA tremolo only available on the 1986 Model - not the solid body on the back with no tremolo cavity. The beauty of these Kahlers is that they are top mounted with no cutting through the body as you find on Floyd's and Standard tremolo setups. A favourite of Megadeth's Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman as well as Slayer's Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman. Also Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello.
The Model 5 and Model 6 were the very top models from Charvel in 1986. Both were hand crafted in Jackson's Japanese factory, whose workers went on to found the Caparison guitar company in Japan. The Rising Sun Flag graphic is appropriate for its Japanese heritage. The Model 5 featured traditional Charvel dot inlays where the Model 6 featured Jackson-style shark fin inlays.
This is the coolest 80s Charvel I have ever seen. It is exceptionally clean with minor play marks and the typical chip to the back of the pointy headstock tip. 1986 was the golden era for Jackson guitars and the Charvel brand they owned before selling both brands to Fender many years later.
