- C. Andrew Gerstle (ed.): 18th century Japan; culture and society. Curzon Press, 2000 reprint;
paperback). Some shelf wear on front and back cover but otherwise in very good condition.
- Ōyama Shirō: A man with no talents; memoirs of a Tokyo day laborer (Cornell University Press,
2005; hardcover). Dust jacket: some shelf wear and with faded spine. Upper edge of front and
back flaps also faded. The book itself is in very good condition.
- Gavan McCormack: Client state; Japan in the American embrace (Verso, 2007; paperback).
A little shelf wear but otherwise in very good condition.
- Susan B. Hanley and Kozo Yamamura: Economic and demographic change in preindustrial
Japan, 1600-1868 (Princeton University Press, 1977; paperback). Front and back covers have
quite a bit of shelf wear, bumped corners and somewhat dented top edges. They also curve a
bit. Spine is discoloured and with worn top and bottom edges. The back joint is somewhat
scratched. Part of text block also has bumped corners.
- Ray Christensen: Ending the LDP hegemony; party cooperation in Japan (University of Hawai'i
Press, 2000; paperback). Front and back covers have some shelf wear and slightly bumped
corners. They also curve a bit. Spine and joints are faded, and also some front cover
fading. Text block is is in very good condition.
- Bradley Richardson: Japanese democracy; power, coordination, and performance (Yale
University Press, 1997; paperback). Quite a bit of shelf wear and discoloration on back and front
covers, which also have bumped corners and slightly worn edges. Back cover has some dents
with creases. Front cover also dented at top edge. Bottom edge of one of the joints has also
been bumped, with creases spreading unto spine. Further creases on the spine along the edge
of the other joint. The text block has some slightly bumped corners.
- Roy Andrew Miller: Japan's modern myth; the language and beyond (Weatherhill, 1982;
hardcover). Dust jacket: Quite a bit of shelf wear and, on back and front panels, a bit of fading.
The book itself is in very good condition.
- John Nathan: Mishima; a biography (Charles E. Tuttle, 1974; paperback). Some shelf wear on
both covers and with faded spine. The spine also has a few creases and some discoloration.
The text block is in very good condition.
- Gerald L. Curtis (ed.): Policymaking in Japan;defining the role of politicians (Japan Center for
International Exchange, 2002; paperback). A bit of shelf wear and fading/discoloration on front
and back covers. Spine also faded, but otherwise in very good condition.
- Donald Keene: So lovely a country will never perish; wartime diaries of Japanese writers
(Columbia University Press, 2010; hardcover). Dust jacket: Some shelf wear. Spine's edges are
worn. Also a few creases at back panel's bottom edge. The book itself is in very good condition.
- John W. Hall and Marius B. Jansen (eds.): Studies in the institutional history of early modern
Japan (Princeton University Press, 1968; hardcover). No dust jacket. Some shelf wear and
discoloration on both covers, and with slightly bumped and worn corners. More discoloration on
one of the joints/spine, on the bottom edges of covers and on the top and fore edges of text
block. Edges of spine also bumped/worn. There is a small dent on the top edge of the back
cover. A previous owner has written his name on the free end paper with a ballpoint pen, but the
pages are clean.
- Tsuru Kotaro: The Japanese market economy system: its strengths and weaknesses (LTCB
International Library Foundation, 1996; hardcover). Dust jacket: some shelf wear, and with faded
spine and joints. Also fading along top edge of back flap. Front panel has two small holes, and
the bottom edge of back panel has a small tear. Top and bottom edges of spine are a bit
worn. But the book itself is in very good condition.
- Ryotaro Shiba: The last shogun; the life of shogun Tokugawa Yoshinobi (Kodansha International, 1998; hardcover). Dust jacket: A little shelf wear and with faded spine and joints. Spine's bottom edge worn and with a small tear. Text book itself is in very good condition.
- Yasuhiro Nakasone: The making of the new Japan; reclaiming the political mainstream (Curzon Press, 1999; hardcover). Dust jacket: Some shelf wear and with somewhat worn edges. Spine quite faded. Book's front cover has a bumped corner, and spine's lower edge also bumped and worn. Text block is in very good condition.
- Peter N. Dale: The myth of Japanese uniqueness (Routledge, 1995 reprint; paperback). Front and back cover have some shelf wear, creases and slightly bumped corners. Spine also faded.
- Michael S. F. Gorman: The quest for Kibi and the true origins of Japan (Orchid Press, 1999; paperback). Quite a bit of some shelf wear, including small dents in covers and spine. Spine faded and also some fading on covers and flaps. Upper edge of covers, spine and flaps a bit worn/dented, and covers have bumped corners. Text block in very good condition.
- Ellis S. Krauss & Robert J. Pekkanen: The rise and fall of Japan's LDP; political party organizations as historical institutions (Cornell University Press 2011; paperback). Some shelf wear on spine and front and back covers. Back cover and a small part of the text block have bumped corners. Top edge of spine and joints also bumped Otherwise in very good condition.
- Timon Screech: The shogun's painted culture; fear and creativity in the Japanese states, 1760-1829 (Reaktion Books, 2000; paperback). Some shelf wear on front and back covers. Top edge corner of
front cover, top edges of joints and spine are bumped and with creases and a crack in front joint. Some of text block corners also bumped/bent, but text block otherwise in very good condition.
- Richard Storry and Werner Forman: The way of the samurai (Orbis Publishing, 1978; paperback). Front and back panels: some shelf wear, discoloration (on both sides) and bumped corners. Upper part of front cover also somewhat faded. Spine and joints also faded and discoloured, and with worn edges. Text block has bumped corners.
- Pierre François Souyri: The world turned upside down; medieval Japanese society (Pimlico, 2002; paperback). Some shelf wear, and spine a bit faded. Covers have bumped corners, and bottom edge of spine and back joint also bumped. Front cover's bottom edge has a dent. The pages have begun yellowing, and a few of them have bumped corners.
- Stephen Mansfield: Tokyo; a cultural and literary history (Signal Books, 2009; paperback). Front and back cover have some shelf wear and slightly bumped corners. Joints at bottom edge and spine's bottom edge are slightly bumped/worn. Otherwise in very good condition.
- Joy Hendry: Understanding Japanese society (2nd edition) (Routledge 1995; paperback). Some shelf wear on front and back covers. Spine is faded, and the covers partially faded. Front cover has a bumped corner and a crease at top edge. Bottom edge of back joint bumped and creased. The text block is in very good condition.
- Paul Varley: Warriors of Japan as portrayed in the war tales (University of Hawai'i Press, 1994; paperback). Next to nothing shelf wear on front cover and only a little on back cover. Otherwise in very good condition.
