The Lenovo ThinkSystem M.2 ER3 240GB Read Intensive SATA NHS SSD is engineered as a high-performance, reliable operating system boot solution for Lenovo ThinkSystem servers. Utilizing the compact M.2 form factor this SSD integrates seamlessly with supported M.2 adapters, providing a dedicated and efficient boot environment without occupying traditional drive bays.
Designed for exceptional durability, the ThinkSystem M.2 solution boasts both mechanical and electronic robustness, surpassing previous implementations. It offers enhanced data protection through hardware mirroring for configurations with two M.2 SSDs, ensuring critical system data integrity. Furthermore, these M.2 SSDs deliver a significantly higher Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) compared to less robust alternatives like SD cards or USB keys.
For expanded capabilities, the optional Dual M.2 Adapter provides a PCIe 2.0 x2 host interface and is powered by the Marvell 88SE9230 6 Gbps SATA controller. This adapter supports either one or two 6 Gbps SATA M.2 drives and accommodates various physical sizes (42mm, 60mm, 80mm). It offers versatile RAID functionality, defaulting to RAID 1 while also supporting RAID 0 and JBOD, all configurable via UEFI-based settings.
Alternatively, the Single M.2 Adapter offers a streamlined 6 Gbps SATA host interface, supporting one 6 Gbps SATA M.2 drive across the same range of physical sizes (42mm, 60mm, 80mm). Both adapter types facilitate easy firmware updates using Lenovo tools and allow for efficient management via an I2C interface, with the single adapter also providing VPD reporting for inventory.
Installation is simplified thanks to a tool-less, patented clip design that supports a back-to-back connector layout, enabling straightforward setup even in confined server spaces. This thoughtful design ensures that deploying the Lenovo ThinkSystem M.2 SSD is quick, efficient, and maximizes server internal space.
