This decorative plate was produced by Società Ceramica Italiana di Laveno during the artistic direction of Guido Andloviz (1923–1946). The piece features a finely scalloped rim and a hand-rendered fruit basket motif in brown over an ivory ground, a characteristic example of Laveno’s blend of traditional domestic ware with a modernist sensibility. The factory backstamp authenticates its origin and situates it firmly within the golden period of Laveno production.
Founded in the mid-19th century on Lake Maggiore, the Laveno manufactory became a leading center of Italian ceramic design under Andloviz. He introduced new forms, surface treatments, and motifs that brought the factory international recognition. Works from this period are today preserved in major collections, including the Triennale Design Museum in Milan, underlining the cultural significance of Laveno’s output.
Condition:
Good vintage condition with light surface wear consistent with age. Minor glaze loss on the reverse rim (visible in photos), no structural damage.
Fun fact: Guido Andloviz was one of Italy’s earliest industrial designers, credited with transforming Laveno into a hub of modern ceramic production. His work bridged traditional craftsmanship with the emerging language of 20th-century design.
