This Model 710 conversation chair features a dark chromed steel frame with loose cushions upholstered in supple black leather. The armrests are detailed with matching leather inlays, emphasizing both comfort and material integrity. Its linear steel construction creates a sculptural clarity, while the generous cushions provide a soft counterbalance to the strict geometry.
Designed by Danish architect Preben Fabricius and cabinetmaker Jørgen Kastholm, the chair reflects their shared vision of minimalism, functional precision, and timeless appeal. Their work—often compared to the modernist icons Charles Eames and Mies van der Rohe—secured international recognition in the 1960s and remains represented in museums worldwide, including MoMA in New York, Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris, and MACBA in Barcelona.
Condition:
Very good preowned condition with light wear consistent with age. Leather shows minimal use, and the frame retains its deep chromed finish. Structurally sound.
Fun fact: The partnership between Kastholm and Fabricius lasted only seven years (1961–1968), yet during this brief period they created some of the most enduring classics of Scandinavian modernism, many of which remain in production today through Walter Knoll.
