Stand: Brugt - men i god stand
A brilliant combo for home, studio, or club use.
It’s the exact same size as a Princeton, but lighter and better equipped. Compared to the Princeton, it offers a warmer sound. It's meant to sit somewhere between a tweed and a blackface tone, though it's definitely closer to the latter. Handbuilt by Tim Marcus in San Francisco.
• 5W output (but breaks up relatively late – similar headroom to a Princeton)
• VVR system (voltage reduction), similar to power scaling – allows earlier breakup if desired
• Tubes: 2x 12AX7, 1x 12AT7, 1x 6V6, 1x 5Y3
• 12” 25W Jupiter speaker (similar to a Greenback, but made in the USA)
• Spring reverb
• Bias tremolo
Thanks to the cabinet size, top-notch reverb and tremolo, and the 12” speaker, this combo sounds full and mature despite only being 5 watts. The clean tone is detailed, dynamic, warm, and pairs beautifully with pedals – even at living room volume. Cranked up, it gets pleasantly aggressive. It’s no coincidence that John Mayer, for example, likes Milkmans for home use.
The combo is in excellent technical condition, dead quiet, and was recently serviced. Cosmetically, it has just a few brown stains (see photos) which the blonde tolex is prone to.
Hard to come by in Europe – for example, it’s listed at €3300 by the Dutch dealer The Fellowship of Acoustics. A custom hard case is also available if interested.
