Antique Plantation Chair – Early 1900s, India
Varebeskrivelse
Stand: Brugt - men i god stand
Elegant and full of history, this handcrafted armchair originates from a tea plantation in Ceylon ( Now Sri Lanka) owned by the Assam Tea company, dating back to the early 1900s. Passed down through generations, it belonged to my grandfather and carries the charm and character of colonial craftsmanship.
Made from solid wood with rich, dark polish and detailed carving on the backrest, it features the original green leather upholstery secured with decorative metal studs. The piece has beautiful proportions, a strong frame, and timeless design and is really nice to sit in.— We used it as an excellent chair in my study, then hallway and finally a reading corner.
Condition: Structurally sound. One small cosmetic crack in the wood at the back (see close-up photo) — an easy fix with wood glue if needed. Otherwise, normal wear consistent with age.
A rare find for collectors or anyone who appreciates furniture with provenance and soul.
