The boat was built in 1976 and has been well taken care of. We bought it in 2022 and sailed it from the east to the west coast of Sweden. Extensive upgrades have been done that include a new Garmin chart plotter, new Airimar DST (depth, speed and temperature) sensor, new running rigging and new spinlock cleats plus other rigging related things. We replaced the engine for a fully refurbished Volvo Penta md5 with new pistons, rods, rings, piston head, piston liners in 2022. However, the new engine died last year.
The boat has two main sails, a 110 genoa, a working jib and a fully rigged spinnaker for downwind sailing with spinnaker pole. All lines are led to the cockpit. It has a Bruce anchor, with chain and a stern anchor line (ankarolina). A Lagun table for the cockpit. Inside the boat are four berths, a functional (fotogen) kitchen and a sink. 40 liters fresh water tank and 20 liter diesel tank. A Dometic portapotti (2022) can be included. Domestic and starting batteries, lead acid, are in very good condition. The boat comes with a metal stand for wintering and an aluminum frame with tent for shelter.

For sale: a RJ85 sailing boat. A beautiful archipelago cruiser with classic lines. Fine sailing characteristics with low freeboards that give a closeness to the water. 8.5 m long, 2 m wide and a draft of only 1.26. The boat, Islay, was built in 1976 in the dock in Söderköping and has been well taken care of since then. We bought Islay in 2022 and sailed her from Söderköping to Kungshamn, Bohuslän. We have done extensive upgrades, which include a new Garmin chartplotter, a new Airimar DST (depth, speed and temperature) sensor, new running rigging and spinlock winch unloader etc. We also replaced the engine with a fully refurbished Volvo Penta MD5 2022. However, the engine died last year, may be fixable but we don't know.

The boat has two mainsails, a 110 genoa, a cross jib, and a fully rigged spinnaker with spinnaker boom. All halyards, uphaul, downhaul etc are pulled down into the cockpit. Islay has a Bruce anchor with chain and anchor line. A Lagoon table with bracket in the cockpit provides a nice dining area. In the cabin there are four berths, a kerosene kitchen, and sink. The fresh water tank is 40 liters and the diesel tank is 20 liters. A Dometic portapotti can be included in the purchase. Starter battery and leisure battery, lead, are both in good condition.
Islay is currently on land, in a cradle that comes with the boat. Also included is an aluminum cover rack from Press & son.
