Nautors Swan S&S SWAN 55 Yawl /Claasen Shipyard

Nautors Swan, årg. 1971, skrogmateriale Glasfiber-armeret plast, Diesel, hjemhavn Rendsburg (Tyskland), The Swan 55 Yawl belongs to the group of the most beautiful boats Nautor has ever built. The series of yawls designed by Olin Stephens (of Sparkman & Stephens) starting with their breakthrough Dorade in 1929, were dominant in the grand prix ocean races, competing in the Fastnet, Bermuda, Transpac and Sydney-Hobart races successfully for decades until the IOR rule was introduced in the beginning of the 1970s after which yawl rigs became uncompetitive.
16 Swan 55s were built. Cesarina (launched originally as Laurita) was hull #4, splashed for the first time in 1971.

Cesarina has been wowing onlookers with her beautiful lines ever since. Her first owner raced her in New England and through the Caribbean and was so in love with her that when she sank in a hurricane off St Barths in 1995, he had her salvaged and sent to Europe on a freighter, to the best yard he knew- to Claasen in the Netherlands (now famous for their J Class builds and refits) (previously Laurita). She was Nico Claasen‘s personal project for 3 years and was transformed during that time (and with an enormous budget) into a gentleman’s yacht.

The fibreglass hull and the teak deck are original, but her original racing interior was ripped out and replaced with beautiful hand-turned mahogany cabinetry; bunks were turned into larger and more elegant living space (she now has two double berths and a leecloth in the saloon) and a beautiful chart table arrangement was installed with an adjustable leather seat from a Jaguar XJS.

On deck, her fibreglass superstructure has been clad with varnished teak to give her a Truly Classic look. Cesarina is an unique and outstandingly beautiful yacht. She turns heads and attracts admirers wherever she goes.

I bought her in 2015 from her second owner and have sailed her 50,000nm since then, including once around the world. She has been regularly refitted and equipped to the latest level.

In 2021 alone she was upgraded to Lithium batteries and VICTRON electronics, new Maxwell windlass, new genoa, new forestays… I have spared no expense in preparing her for her next circumnavigation.
CESARINA spent the last 3 years in a dry storage at Nautor Swan in the Netherlands. Some meaningful improvements have been made, including newly painted masts.

Cesarina is currently in Ijmuiden/Netherlands.
