This is one of the youngest OL33 = International 10.06 - built by Danish boat builders with craftsman's pride in the mid 80s. The interior is brighter than on sister ships due to the white cabin ceiling and cupboard doors.
She sails extremely well, fast and stable. Her smooth movements make you feel completely safe in any wind and any wave.
Depending on the conditions, the backstays can be set further forward so that they do not need to be operated when tacking and gybing.
The flush deck leads to an immediate sailing sensation. You notice more around you instead of looking at the cabin bulkhead. Nevertheless, there is weather protection for leisurely tours thanks to the removable small sprayhood and railings.
The design by the Dane Borghegn reflects the influence of his master Poul Molich, who created classic icons such as Sparkman & Stevens and German Frers. Borghegn also incorporated more recent influences such as Doug Peterson.
On the cross, especially in waves, the OL is in its element. She purrs to windward.
The genoa is easy to sail from 0-5 bft, the jib from 1-2 bft. Both are therefore suitable as all-round sails for the whole season.
The screenshot in the gallery documents the impressively narrow tacking angle.
Thanks to its modern U-frame, the OL does not tend to fiddle in the wind like the Aphrodite 101 with trapeze frame, which looks similar at first glance. Overall, the OL has the more timeless hull shape and slightly more width + freeboard, which makes her more stable in comparison. The interior is much more solid and spacious. The OL is of a higher quality overall.
This OL has been sailed very little over the years, has never been tinkered with and has always enjoyed expert care from a single owner for almost the entire time. He was an architect in Copenhagen, and you can see that in the stylish, classic Scandinavian interior.
"oh elle" has not sailed softly, and overall she is in very good condition for her age. She is an icon of the great era of Danish yacht building.
The high-quality genoa I-II with UV protection comes from the Swedish sail manufacturer Boding, the main with lazy bag is from North and stands well (see photo), the jib made of ProRadial with UV protection is from 2022. The good all-round gennaker (A2) is from North and comes from a French Alphena One. There is also a recovery tube. If required, a good spinnaker is also available as an option.
The simple Volvo diesel is regularly serviced and is the boat's second engine.
There is a pump toilet without a tank in the foredeck, which is currently out of service. There is also a stove and sink.
There is a GPS, but we never used it because we found the map display on our cell phone or tablet more practical. We also found the plumb line/logging unnecessary for our use in view of the good electronic maps. However, transducers are built in, so retrofitting would cost a few hundred euros.
The cockpit tent with poles and windows is almost new. There is a deck frame for the winter. A demountable bearing bracket is available as an option if required.
Please do not expect a new boat. There are scratches, wear and tear and other imperfections. But it is the nicest OL I have ever seen on many trips and following the market over the years.
At any rate, the boat is still in a shed on the Flensburg Fjord until May.
