Beskrivelse
Nauticat, årg. 1976, skrogmateriale Glasfiber-armeret plast, hjemhavn Svendborg, Specially manufactured windows for the entire boat, worth DKK 125,000, are included. Absolutely no negotiation on the price possible :-)
The project boat Marco Polo, described in detail in the book Til Søs i Evig Sommer in connection with the ship’s extensive circumnavigation, is now being sold for completion, as I have fallen ill and can no longer manage the project.
The boat is a Nelson 37, which is the design Nauticat bought from Nelson and later called the Nauticat 38.
However, this one sails lighter and faster, as it is built in a much more manageable sandwich construction rather than solid fiberglass like the later Nauticats, which are often affected by osmosis for the same reason.
The following work has been carried out on the project, among much else, during several years of intensive work:
• Specially manufactured windows for the entire ship with aluminum frames and real glass panes
• Significant reinforcements of hull, deck-to-hull joints, and interior fitting
• Sandblasting and priming above and below the waterline. Needs final painting.
• Reconstruction, reinforcement, and fairing of the hull inside and out – an extensive project carried out in West System epoxy
• Installation of bulkheads in forepeak/saloon and basic fitting of the aft cabin
• Specially manufactured freshwater tanks, 2×600 liters in stainless steel – included with the ship
• Partial door frame construction – needs to be completed in the forepeak
Bulkheads are built in 22 mm birch and clad with Khaya mahogany.
The following tasks remain:
• Finish interior fitting
• Install plumbing and electrics
• Build galley
• Surface treatment/final coating of deck and hull
• Install sliding hatch in wheelhouse
• Install hydraulic steering
• Install engine
• Clean/paint engine
Included:
• Specially manufactured windows, portlights, and skylights in aluminum/glass
• Timber: Many sheets of Khaya mahogany in varying thicknesses
• A few sheets of 18 mm pine
• Quite a lot of teak in various widths and lengths
• Composite flooring in teak/holly look for wheelhouse
• Perkins 4.236 with very few operating hours – only needs cosmetic overhaul. Fantastic and legendary engine without ECU, turbo, or other unstable gimmicks.
• Bathing platform
• Bow platform for boarding
• UV-resistant smoked plexiglass for sliding hatch in wheelhouse
• Tons of photos documenting the project’s history
• All sorts of other useful items
• Receipts for consumables documenting material quality
Estimated values:
• Windows: DKK 120,000
• Timber: DKK 40,000
• Fuel tanks: DKK 15,000
• Used consumables: DKK 35,000
• Labor invested so far: A lot
• Hull itself: Probably about DKK 50,000
So the total bare value is around DKK 250,000.
If you manage to finish the project, then depending on the final level of completion, the boat can either be sailed for a lifetime or sold for DKK 500,000–1,500,000.
It will take about DKK 100,000 for various items to finish it – depending especially on ambitions for electronics – plus about a year of work (more or less) to create the world’s most beautiful Nauticat 38.
The boat is located in a hall in South Funen and can be inspected by appointment.
It can easily be transported anywhere in Denmark by truck.
I am more than happy to provide advice if you are not already fully skilled in boatbuilding.
