Great Dane 28

Great Dane 28, årg. 1975, skrogmateriale Glasfiber-armeret plast, Diesel, hjemhavn Glückstadt (Tyskland), We are the third owners of this beautiful and robust classic. However, it is now time for an upgrade. We have given her an extensive refit since 2009, renewing almost everything that can be renewed.

Over the last 16 years, at least €80,000 has been invested in this boat. Only a refit of the Pütting anchors can be considered in the next few years.

The boat is always in the hall in winter and in the Baltic Sea and on the Elbe in summer. Winter changes of impeller, lubricating oil and filter were a matter of course.

The following was invested in detail:
2010
New Volvo Penta D1-20 engine, currently only approx. 650 operating hours / new electrics, new stainless steel fuel tank.
- Philippi control panel with thermal fuses
- 2 main switches (1x machine, 1x service battery)
- Sterling Power IP 68 charger, 2x 12V, 12 A
- Nasa Battery-Monitor BM1

2011
Completely new Selden rig with Furlex furling genoa and battened mainsail with single-line reef. All lines for sail control have been moved to the cockpit. Three-color lantern in the mast with LED position lights. New sail set from Segelwerkstadt Stade.

2013 / 2014
Major shipyard refit at Peter Wrede in Wedel:
- Removal of the teak, all fittings and windows. Sandblasting of the entire boat, lamination of additional layers of the running deck. Reconstruction of the underwater hull and painting of the deck in cream white and hull in dark blue. The deck had never leaked and the hull had never suffered osmosis damage.
- New deck covering with Flexiteek, new window seals, new stainless steel railings and cleats, as well as new Andersen winches. All fittings and railing supports were bolted with stainless steel counterplates.
- Replacement of all deck outlets and seacocks with seawater-resistant bronze alloys.
- New teak handrails on deck
- Raymarine VHF with DSC, Garmin chart plotter via compass column
- new log / depth gauge

2015
- New Aeroheat diesel heater with outlets in saloon and forward cabin
- Simrad tiller pilot
- Zodiac life raft - without current maintenance
- New Waeco cool box
- New cover for all upholstery with original fabric

2016 / 2017
- All lights in the boat in warm white LEDs
- Paneling of the forward cabin in cherry wood
- Garmin broadband radar with Scanstrut mast mount - currently dismantled again, as installation at the stern or on the backstay was considered
- SPW Varioprop - rotary blade propeller
- Garmin AIS transponder

2018
- Level indicators for fuel tank and water tank

2020
- Lazy Jack mainsail packing system from T1 Sails - matching sailcloth also still available

2022
- New sprayhood and new cake stand from Bosse-Verdecke
- New bumperlines in darker blue


A harbor trailer (25km/h) from Weihe Yachting (from 2022) and a Windpilot Pacific wind steering system from 2016 are also optionally available for this boat.
