Very spacious and comfortable sailing yacht with great sailing characteristics

**Room layout
The Catalina 42 mk II is a fantastic sailing yacht of American design that can easily keep up with the spaciousness and comfort of today's yachts. She was once celebrated as the winner in her class in terms of design, sailing characteristics and comfort. Catalina Yachts built a total of four different cabin layouts for this type of yacht. The yacht on offer here is a two-cabin boat (Two Cabin Pullman Owners Berth) with a great layout. The spaciousness of the saloon is apparent as soon as you enter the yacht via the companionway. Two people can sleep in the owner's cabin and one or two people in the aft double berth. The saloon table can also be converted into a sleeping area.

**Sailing characteristics**
Of course, with a sail area of approx. 75 m2, the Catalina is not a racing yacht, but we exceeded the theoretical hull speed of 8 knots with good winds and the right trim, even reaching 9 to 10 knots here and there. Due to its size and displacement, the boat reacts to gusts in a relaxed manner. This is due to the high dimensional stability thanks to the hull width of 4.22 m, but also the weight stability with the help of the 3,765 kg fin keel. This also suits those sailors who are not entirely comfortable with heeling. The boat is also absolutely reliable in stormy conditions. And the robust 54 hp diesel engine always starts immediately and always runs reliably when needed.

**Comfort**
An absolute highlight in addition to the great feeling of space is the diesel-powered auxiliary heating (Webasto Thermo 90S) with a max. heating cable of 9.1 kW in combination with a water-bearing heating system (winter-proof), which has been installed inconspicuously and in a space-saving manner. So no dry warm air, but pleasant warmth from conventional radiators - and in just a few minutes. An absolute feel-good factor, especially in bad weather, which we loved. We were able to use the boat for cozy family vacations well into the cooler autumn.

**Condition**
The boat is in good condition, with minor cosmetic repairs a new shine can be achieved. Wooden applications on the exterior would need to be repainted. The GRP on deck could be polished and sealed. Exterior loudspeakers for music and radio need to be replaced. The covers for the winches need to be replaced. The sails (1 set) are ready for use. Fresh antifouling is currently applied. The hull above the waterline has been polished and sealed.
