This is one of the youngest OL33 = International 10.06 - built in 1984 by OL-Boats with pride of craftsmanship. The interior is much brighter than on sister ships due to the white cabin ceiling and cupboard doors and is in really good condition. Nothing smells, musty or rotting.
The OL33 sails extremely well behaved, fast and stable - simply superior. Her smooth movements make you feel completely safe in any wind and any wave.
Depending on the conditions, the backstays can be set further forward so that they do not need to be operated when cruising.
The flush deck leads to an immediate sailing feeling. You notice more around you instead of looking at the cabin bulkhead. Weather protection for leisurely tours is provided by the removable mini sprayhood and retrofittable railings.
You can stand in the companionway hatch or at the galley and look forward over the deck at the same time - this has its own charm and is only possible on a flush decker. However, standing height below deck is more a matter for marmots. However, with my 1.93 m height, I can sit anywhere in the saloon.
The design by Arne Borghegn (Nordship, Motiva...) is influenced by his teacher Poul Molich, who himself created famous classics with Sparkman & Stevens and German Frers.
The OL is in its element on the cross, especially in waves. She purrs to windward and doesn't get bogged down even in rough seas, but rocks harmoniously over the waves.
The genoa I-II is easy to sail from 0-5 Bft, the jib from a good 1 Bft. Both are therefore suitable as all-round sails for the whole season.
The screenshot documents the narrow tacking angle.
You can also make good progress on all courses under jib only. This suddenly makes weather that you would otherwise avoid really fun.
Thanks to its modern U-frame, the OL33 doesn't tend to fiddle in the wind like the Aphrodite 101 with trapeze frame, which looks similar at first glance. Overall, the OL has the more timeless hull shape and slightly more width + freeboard. The interior is much more solid and spacious than on the 101.
This OL has been sailed very little over the years, has never been tinkered with and has always enjoyed expert care from a single owner for almost the entire time. She has not been soft sailed and is in really good overall condition with plenty of epoxy osmosis protection that has been refreshed several times, most recently in 2024.
The high-quality foil genoa I-II with UV protection comes from the Swedish sail manufacturer Boding, the main with lazy bag is from North and stands well (see photo), the jib made of very strong ProRadial Dacron with UV protection is from 2022. Optionally, there would also be an all-round gennaker (A2) from North with or without a recovery tube or alternatively a spinnaker, but currently without a boom.
The Volvo MD2010 with 10 hp and 2-circuit cooling is serviced annually and is the boat's second engine.
There is a triangular berth forward, two further berths in the saloon, which have a comfortable width after folding up the backrests, and a similarly sized dog berth aft.
There is a GPS and VHF. Plumb bob/log would have to be renewed (a few hundred euros).
The cockpit tent with poles and windows is almost new. A demountable bearing block would be optional if required.
Please do not expect a new boat. There are scratches, wear and tear and other imperfections. You should also never approach a used boat purchase like this with a "fully comprehensive insurance" mentality (buy cheap and expect everything to be as good as a new boat). But this is definitely the most beautiful OL33 that I have ever seen on many trips and while following the...
