Baring-Gould, Sabine - Iceland: Its Scenes and Sag, Baring-Gould, Sabine, emne: rejsebøger
Smith, Elder and Co London 1863 - First Edition.
An almost very good book without dust jacket. Original cloth covered boards have a celtic knot and rune design in gilt. Some spotting on front board. Front board has light wear to outside gilt frame at bottom edge, and slight knocks to corners. Light wear to and slight uniform sun-fading to spine, more significant wear (slight fraying. and cloth exposed) at spine ends. Page edges in bright gilt. Webbing exposed on inside of covers, but covers are firmly held in place. Previous owners armorial bookplate (Lt Col John Hunt - militat in sylvis) on inside of front cover. Inside cover and fep in brown heavy paper. FEP has embossed stamp of the original bookseller. All plates present, as is the folding map. Tissue guards protecting coloured frontispiece and plates have browned, but the frontispiece and plates themselves are in excellent condition. Folding map has on small tear, and the (left) border is damaged - a few small holes caused by wear from being opened - the map itself is not adversely affected by this, just the outside border. One page (Appendix E, detailing the expenses incurred by the author) has a slight dirty mark, and generally, there is a little isolated foxing.
