Horizon, Motoryacht, årg. 1993, fod 52, Diesel, skrog: Glasfiber-armeret plast, hjemhavn: Tønsberg (Norge), Sheldon – Classic Horizon Royal Yacht 480
Sheldon is a unique and well-maintained motor yacht, custom-built by the renowned Horizon Yachts in Taiwan — a name synonymous with quality and semi-custom craftsmanship in the global yacht industry. While perhaps not widely known in Norway, Horizon is internationally respected for its premium builds. Learn more about the shipyard here: https://www.horizonyacht.com.
Originally ordered in 1991 and delivered in 1993 to Jersey, this vessel was officially registered as the Horizon Royal Yacht 480 — a sophisticated alternative for discerning owners who wanted more customization than brands like Storebro SRC 50 could offer at the time. With a LOA of 54 feet, Sheldon is exempt from certification under Lloyd’s measurement standards. All original documents, including measurement certificates and blueprints, are included onboard.
Single-family ownership
The yacht was originally commissioned by my father, who had owned several Storebro boats but wanted more freedom in layout and features. Horizon delivered exactly that — only the engine room bulkheads were fixed; everything else was customizable.
Sheldon remained in our family from new and was used exclusively along the west coast of Sweden (Bohuslän) until my father's passing in 2021. She was imported and cleared through Norwegian customs in spring 2022. With only two owners, both within the same family, this boat has been exceptionally well cared for and always winter-stored indoors, which is evident in its condition: elegant, well-preserved, and minimally exposed to the elements. As the yacht has paid vat in the European Union and Norway, it can reside wherever a new owner prefers.
Design & Comfort
Every detail in the interior is hand-built in solid wood, with thousands of hours spent on finishing and craftsmanship. Unlike Storebro at the time, Sheldon features a fully covered aft deck, eliminating the need for overhead canvas. This spacious outdoor area (12.5m2) accommodates free-standing garden furniture. Above the aft deck is a huge sunbed (6,5m2) integrated with the flybridge.
Layout highlights:
• Main salon with helm station on the starboard side, seating for two.
• Additional fold-out seats facing forward under the main lounge.
• New 60L stainless steel fridge (2022) under the helm seat.
• Aft of the helm is ample storage and a half-staircase down to the aft cabin, featuring a queen-size bed, abundant drawers, cabinets, and two large hanging closets – one with engine room access. All large wardrobes are lit manually.
• The aft cabin has its own ensuite bathroom with a Jabsco Quiet Flush toilet and large teak-door shower with seating.
• Below the salon, the galley is equipped with modern appliances, and a spacious dinette.
• Forward cabin with queen bed and adjacent head with shower, accessible from both dinette and cabin.
• In the galley: a new 140L stainless steel fridge, 75L fridge/freezer under the floor, and dishwasher. Under the helmsman sofa there is a stainless steel fronted 60liter fridge – all installed in 2022.
• A washer/dryer is discreetly placed in the staircase to the aft cabin.
Additional 2022 upgrades:
• New upholstery throughout – all cushions, sofas, and cabin fabrics reupholstered in a light off-white tone (original dark blue nautical style has been removed but is preserved if desired).
• All blue carpets were removed to highlight the interior teak decks – carpets are stored onboard for reference or reinstallation.
