With the Safe&Airy Crib by BabyDan, the little ones get off to a good start. The cradle is made of breathable mesh fabric and can either be locked for a stationary bed or (with a gentle push) it can rock back and forth in a natural horizontal "turning movement", not the traditional side-to-side cradle movement like a swing.
