Original vintage program book for the American Folk Blues Festival October 1968 European package tour, featuring John Lee Hooker, Eddie Taylor, Shakey Horton, Jerome Arnold, J.C. Lewis, T-Bone Walker, Big Joe Williams, Curtis Jones, and Jimmy Reed. Presented by Lippmann+Rau, the tour kicked off in Frankfurt, Germany on 7th October and ended in Newcastle, England on 3rd November, 1968. Original ticket stub for the concert at the Kongresshalle in Frankfurt on Monday, 7th October, laid in. Program artwork and design by Günther Kieser.
In original b/w pictorial matte-coated wrappers, staple bound, 27.6 x 25.5 cm, 28 pp. Trilingual edition with text in English, German and French. Paper clip mark to top of back wrapper, else near fine, tightly bound and clean.
he American Folk Blues Festival was a music festival that toured Europe as an annual event for several years beginning in 1962. It introduced audiences in Europe, including the UK, to leading blues performers of the day such as Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, John Lee Hooker and Sonny Boy Williamson, most of whom had never previously performed outside the US. The tours attracted substantial media coverage, including TV shows, and contributed to the growth of the audience for blues music in Europe.
