Original Mundus and J&J Kohn Bentwood Arm Chair Dating from 1914-1922 - a rare example of bentwood furniture by the Eastern European furniture makers, before merging with one of Michael Thonet's son's companies.
In 1850, Jacob Kohn and his son Josef opened a factory that produced construction lumber and later matches in the Moravian town of Wsetin (now Vsetín, Czech Republic). The company, Jacob & Josef Kohn, grew rapidly and, like its competitors, sought to profit from the lucrative bentwood furniture market.
