Jake Walsh, a young talented director who made a documentary on rock group U2, is being offered the opportunity to make his first major Hollywood production.
He goes to New York to prepare the movie and goes to a fashion show one evening. He falls straight for a French photo model, Stella, and the next day he meets her by chance again in a cafe. It is a vessel at first glance and they immediately move together in Jake's apartment.
At the same time he joins the management of the film company. Jake wants to make a serious movie and the producers want as much sex and violence as possible. The filming becomes chaotic at the same time as the relationship with Stella becomes more and more complicated, and soon Jake loses control of the film, love life and himself..
