This is an original vintage Gretsch 6128 double cutaway version of the Duo Jet from 1962 with fantastic natural wear and beautiful real mojo. The guitar has aged honestly over the years, with a naturally worn-in look that gives it huge character and stage presence. It feels like a proper old Gretsch — resonant, comfortable, familiar and full of personality.
The guitar is overall in good condition for its age and it is structurally sound with no neck breaks or repairs. It plays/sounds like it should - well actually it sounds amazing! It's all original, except the body top may have been refinished in a black nitro cellulose lacquer - probably a couple of decades years ago and today it has worn into a nice vintage look that compliments the rest of the guitar. The neck has had a reset done by a professional luthier, which only makes the guitar play much better, and the frets has been renewed as well, though maybe a new fret job would be beneficial in the future regarding the upper frets. The binding looks original and it has that desirable off-white, yellowish vintage color. It is not "rotting", like it has a tendency to do on some of these old Gretsch guitars.
The one-piece mahogany neck with its beautiful black ebony fretboard is a joy to play as well as just to look at visually.
The original US Patent FilterTron pickups delivers that warm, open and articulate tone one would expect them.
The guitar also has the original Burns vibrato system as well as original tuning pegs.
Some of the tuning pegs are quite worn and two of them is a bit bend, but still works.
All hardware is original and works; knobs, pickup switch, tone switch, kill switch, bridge etc. and they all have a wonderful vintage/well used look.
