Description
A large-format B1 (728 × 1030mm) reproduction of the official poster for the Games of the V Olympiad, Stockholm 1912 (Olympiska Spelen Stockholm 1912, 29 Juni — 22 Juli), issued as a commemorative reprint by National Pana-Color (ナショナル パナカラー — Panasonic's colour television brand) for the 1972 Munich Olympics (1972-nen Myunhen Orinpikku Kinen — 1972年ミュンヘンオリンピック記念).
The poster faithfully reproduces the celebrated original design by Swedish artist Olle Hjortzberg (1872–1959) — one of the most iconic images in Olympic history: a heroic nude male athlete in dynamic tug-of-war pose, surrounded by swirling national flags of the participating nations in bold Art Nouveau/Jugendstil style, the whole composition rendered in rich terracotta orange.
