Title of the book: Ten Chapters 1942 - 1945, written by Montgomery, Field Marshal B and Published by Hutchinson & Co Ltd, 1945. The foreword states; 1. This little book is a short and personal record of my activities, in outline, from August 1942 to May 1945. I took command of the Eighth Army in the Western Desert of Egypt on 13 August 1942. The German war ended on 8 May 1945. 2. It has been a long journey: from Alamein to the Baltic Sea. At various stages in that journey the Prime Minister, Mr. Churchill, wrote a page in my autograph book and recorded his impressions: in his own handwriting. These pages have been photographed, exactly as they were written, and they form the main feature of the book. 3. The autograph book itself is in my possession and is, I suppose, of great historical value. Germany July 1945. Facsimile signature. Field marshal c-in-c 21 army group.” Hardback
