Varebeskrivelse
I flotteste bauhaus stil fra 80erne med serie nummer.
DESCRIPTION:
This is a genuine Junghans 5W1 wall clock in black, catalogue number 368-6640, fitted with the original Junghans Quartz W737 movement made in Germany.
The 5W1 has one of the more unusual histories in German design. It was originally designed around 1985 by Reinhold Weiss, who worked as a designer at Braun from 1959 to 1967 alongside Dieter Rams. The clock was initially developed for a company called DIEHL, but that project was cancelled before production. The design then came to Junghans, where a small pilot series was produced, most of them without any Junghans branding. That project was also shelved and contact with Weiss was broken off.
Years later, Junghans sold a limited run of the clock via their catalogue from 1991 to 1993, in black (368-6640) and white (368-6641). That three year window is the entire commercial history of this clock. It was never widely distributed and has been out of production for over 30 years.
The black version with the Junghans dial logo is the harder of the two colours to find. A comparable example sold recently with a scratched glass for 2700kr.

Designer background
Reinhold Weiss studied at the Hochschule fur Gestaltung in Ulm, the school that continued the Bauhaus tradition after the war. His work at Braun in the 1960s placed him at the centre of what became one of the most influential design movements of the 20th century. The minimalist aesthetic of this clock reflects that background directly.
