Leofoto LO-284C carbon tripod with leveling center column
The Leofoto LO-284C from the Mr.O series is a carbon tripod where you can tell that real thought went into the design. You get a classic three-legged tripod, a tripod with a center column, and at the same time a tripod with leveling, because the leveling insert is already integrated. For many setups, that’s exactly the small difference that saves time in everyday use.
Here we use 10-layer wrapped carbon, combined with aluminum and stainless steel in the places where it makes sense. The result feels light but remains stable, even when the camera gets a bit heavier.
Heights, angles, working close to the ground
With the center column fully extended, you reach a maximum working height of 1.54 m. Without the center column, the maximum height is 1.25 m. And if you really want to go low, you can get down to a minimum working height of 9.5 cm without the center column, so very close to the ground. For macro, low-angle perspectives, or when you deliberately want to work low in landscape photography, this is simply practical, almost liberating.
The leg angles can be set in three stages: 23°, 55°, and 85°. This lets you quickly adapt the tripod to uneven terrain, stairs, rocks, or tight indoor spaces without a lot of trial and error. Each leg has 4 sections, with tube diameters of 28, 25, 22, and 19 mm.
Leveling center column and precise alignment
The center column is present and it is levelable. There is also one bubble level so you can keep an eye on the alignment without having to guess first. Especially for architecture, video, or whenever the horizon really has to be spot on, this is a pleasantly straightforward solution.
One detail you only really appreciate after using it a few times: both the center column and the platform have set screws that prevent the mounted tripod head from twisting. That may sound unspectacular, but it prevents exactly those small, annoying micro-movements that would otherwise occur sooner or later.
Load capacity, weight, and transport size
The LO-284C remains pleasantly travel-friendly at 1.32 kg. The transport length is 50 cm, so it fits in many backpacks or can be easily attached on the outside. At the same time, a maximum load capacity of 12.0 kg is specified, which gives you plenty of reserve for mirrorless setups, reportage photography, and also for longer focal lengths in landscape work.
We particularly recommend this tripod for mirrorless cameras, travel photography, reportage photography, landscape photography, low-angle work, and macro photography. It’s the kind of tripod you take along because it doesn’t get in the way, and then you’re glad to have it with you.
