Charming mid-century modern ceramic owl designed by Heiner-Hans Körting for the Dornburg pottery workshop in Germany. This small sculptural owl is a well-known design from the Dornburg studio, which continued the ceramic tradition of the Bauhaus pottery workshop after World War II.
The owl features a minimalist modernist form with a rounded head, drilled circular eyes and a stylised beak. The body is finished in a speckled beige stoneware glaze with darker accents highlighting the carved details.
A distinctive feature of this design is the detachable head, which can be placed back on the body and rotated or positioned in different directions, allowing the owl to display different expressions depending on how the head is arranged.
