Varebeskrivelse
Stand: Brugt - men i god stand
This incredibly rare, expensive book (1700-3000 kroner on the internet) was Published by the Bermuda National Trust in 1971.
The book was The first comprehensive study of carribean Bermudian Antiques in the period 1612-1830, specialising in West indian furniture and silver.
154 pages on furniture
44 pages on silver.
CedarWood was indigenous to Bermuda so most furniture was made of it until Mahogany was imported AROUND year 1700.
The Black and White Photographs show furniture
from homes all over Bermuda.
These show that although the English, Americans and Spanish influenced Bermudian design, the Bermudians made furniture and silver distinctly and charmingly their own." -
The furniture section shows:
Chairs, sofas, tables, sideboards, desks, cupboards and more.
The silver section describes the silversmiths and shows:
Silver tankards
Church silver
Silver Salvers and trays
Silver Cutlery
And more.
The author, Hyde, married a woman from Bermuda, and took most of the 458 Photographs.
The book itself is in very good condition, no markings or inscriptions, but the dustcover is in fair condition (see pictures 1 and 2).
I have chosen a fair Price compared with other prices on the internet.
The book Will appeal to those interested in making scale miniature (1:12) pieces of cedar furniture.
Although The pictures aren't perhaps the best quality, the detailed descriptions are amazing. Measurements are provided for the furniture down to the diameter of the feet!
The book includes s history of Bermuda
