The Story & Condition The Seiko 5 Actus line was created exclusively for the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) in the 1970s, targeted at a young, style-conscious generation. This specific reference, the 6106-8690, is a masterclass in 70s swagger. It features a mesmerizing emerald green sunburst dial that shifts dynamically in the light, further enhanced by its original, multi-cut faceted crystal. It is powered by the 23-jewel caliber 6106 automatic movement. The "SS" on the dial denotes "Second Setting," meaning the movement hacks (the second hand stops when setting the time) for precise synchronization.
At Nimbus Watches, we champion honest history, and this piece wears its 50 years of life proudly. The stainless steel case displays authentic surface scratches and wear, but crucially, it has not been over-polished. The factory-original brushing on the top of the case and the sharp transitions to the polished sides are still distinctly visible.
The highly sought-after faceted crystal is in great condition, allowing the vibrant green dial below to truly pop. Complete with its original, signed Seiko 5 Actus stainless steel bracelet, this watch is running very well and offers a fantastic entry into genuine vintage JDM horology.
