Magnificent rare complete service of Egg Cups for 6 persons, part of “Rothschild Bird“ Collection, produced by Herend around ‘70, well known hand painted pattern with birds perched among branches and scattered insects, in excellent to pristine condition.
This is an exquisite set, in excellent condition, made by Herend - Hungary, in order to dress up sophisticated tables for special meals.
This pattern was first created in 1850 for the Rothschild family of Europe and is considered to be the epitome of hand painting on porcelain.
Twelve different motifs portray a 19th century tale about Baroness Rothschild who lost her pearl necklace in the garden of her Vienna residence.
Several days later it was found by her gardener, who saw birds playing with it in a tree.
