Varebeskrivelse
Stand: Som ny - ingen synlige brugsspor
Authentic Bizen ware (備前焼) chawan, handmade in Japan using traditional unglazed, wood-fired techniques.
This tea bowl is wheel-thrown from iron-rich Bizen clay and fired in a wood kiln, resulting in natural surface effects such as fire marks, ash interaction, and smoky gray to warm brown color variations. There is no glaze – the surface and colors come entirely from the clay and the long firing process, which is characteristic of true Bizen-yaki.
The bowl has a balanced, functional form suitable for tea ceremony use, with a comfortable lip and a well-shaped foot. The interior is smooth and darkened naturally through firing, ideal for whisking matcha.
The base is hand-signed (incised) by the potter. The signature appears to include the character 栄 (Ei / Sakae), which is commonly used by Bizen potters.
No original wooden box (tomobako).
