On a cloudy, windswept day in mid-October, the fabulous steam-yacht DOLPHIN eased out of Falmouth harbor and the Dolphin summer began. Into this floating dream world of marble, mahogany, and velvet came young Annabel Trewella to assume the post of companion to the invalid Melloney Lumley. For the poor orphan girl who had never been beyond her native Cornwall, it seemed the chance of a lifetime.
